About the IAPP

Laura is data protection professional with a diverse experience in data privacy and security. Currently she is an external legal expert at a Swiss-headquartered large multinational corporation advising on data protection compliance and GDPR implementation. Previously she worked as a global data privacy officer in an international engineering company Sulzer focusing on implementing a global governance program and awareness for data privacy. Before that Laura was a senior specialist at the National Cyber Security Centre Finland being responsible for accreditation of security certification bodies and dealing with information security legislation, governmental guidelines and audits. In the beginning of her career she worked in procurement and contracting.



Laura received the CIPM accreditation in 2016 and is also (ISC)² Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2014. She holds an LL.M. degree from the University of Lapland, Finland and completed postgraduate studies in Switzerland (LL.M. in Compliance, University of Fribourg) and Belgium (Postgraduate Certificate in EU Policy-Making, Vrije Universiteit Brussel). On her free time, she currently studies psychology.
