Global Data Privacy Officer

Amy E. Yates is currently the Global Data Privacy Officer for McKinsey & Company, a worldwide management consulting firm operating in over 60 countries. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law specializing in data privacy.  Amy has been a privacy professional since 2000, acting as the first (and only) privacy attorney at Arthur Anderson.  Since then, she has served as the Chief Privacy Officer for several other global professional services firms, a Director in the Deloitte Privacy and Data Protection Center of Excellence and has led the Privacy and Data Protection Practice at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP.  Amy graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and the Northwestern University School of Law.  She has served on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is a frequent contributor to articles and panel discussions on privacy topics.

She is currently working to raise awareness of the need to better protect privacy professionals in the US workplace  – and strategies to facilitate such protections – as a means of democratizing the enforcement of US data privacy laws.
