Chief Privacy Officer

Mike is the Chief Privacy Officer for the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC), where he oversees all aspects of the agency’s privacy program. As the agency’s first privacy officer, he helped USITC create and mature its privacy program. Mike has nearly 15 years of experience in cybersecurity and privacy, serving previously as a consultant to numerous government agencies.



Mike’s experience has focused on risk management and compliance. He has helped agencies assess risks to their IT networks and the PII they manage, create privacy awareness training, and develop cybersecurity and privacy policies. Mike has helped agencies comply with privacy laws and has briefed clients on emerging cybersecurity and privacy issues.



Mike served on the CIPP/G Exam Development Board and has participated in Federal Privacy Council working groups for breach response, risk management, and NIST privacy guidance. Mike holds CIPP/G, CISSP, and CEH certifications. As a member of Toastmasters, he is an accomplished public speaker and achieved the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) distinction, the highest Toastmasters distinction. Mike holds a BA from Georgetown University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
