Frederik Van Remoortel
Frederik Van Remoortel (CIPP/E) is a counsel in the Brussels office of Crowell & Moring LLP. He is a member of Crowell & Moring's Privacy & Cybersecurity Group.
Since the start of his career in 1998, Frederik advises clients with respect to Belgian and EU data protection and privacy legislation in addition to his corporate, commercial, and labor and employment law practice.
Frederik helps Crowell & Moring's clients achieve data protection compliance through day-to-day counseling and contractual work GÇô i.a. regarding trans-border data flows GÇô as well as global and European-wide privacy audits. He assists clients with the adoption and implementation of compliance programs. Frederik advises clients from every industry sector, with a particular focus on health care and pharmaceuticals, energy and utilities, retail and technology as well as Human Resources departments in general.
Frederik is a qualified lawyer in Belgium and obtained his law degree from the Universities of Namur and Leuven. He obtained a postgraduate degree in tax law from the University of Leuven. During his studies at the University of Leuven, he studied six months at the University of Stellenbosch (South-Africa). He is a substitute judge at the Brussels Commercial Court since 2010.
