Mark Van Hollebeke, Ph.D., is a Director of Privacy at Microsoft, whose recent work centers on articulating the norms and ethical guidance required to conduct principled product design. He’s a champion of practical ways to interject ethical considerations into the design of ML and AI.

 

Mark's focus on broadening existing IT industry privacy practices to include ethical considerations and mitigations led him to Data & Society Research institute, where he is currently a Privacy Professional-in-Residence.

Prior to his role at Microsoft, Mark spent 12 years as a philosophy professor specializing in ethics and pragmatism.
