Postdoctoral Researcher, Department of Media and Communications

Anouk Mols is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the Department of Media and Communication of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. She works for the EU-funded SPATIAL project about trustworthy artificial intelligence.  



In 2021, Anouk, under the supervision of Jason Pridmore and Susanne Janssen, completed her dissertation “Everyday Experiences of Privacy and Surveillance: Negotiating Appropriate Forms of Monitoring”.



Anouk is an experienced lecturer in courses at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level about media studies, sociology, qualitative research methods, privacy, surveillance, and academic skills. She also supervises theses at the bachelor’s and master’s level. Her research interests are digitalization, AI, privacy, surveillance, digital communication, smart technologies, and neighborhood safety practices. 



Anouk received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies from the University of Amsterdam, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Media Studies and a Master of Sciences degree in Sociology of Culture, Media and the Arts from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam.
