Privacy in M&A — Recent Practice and Trends

This web conference was a part of the IAPP European Data Protection Intensive Online 2021.

Original broadcast date: 11 June 2021

Implementation of the GDPR, CCPA and other privacy laws across the world influenced significantly how businesses perceive privacy-related risks in the context of M&A transactions. Privacy has been put on par with such areas as competition and consumer protection and intellectual property. Privacy professionals are often directly involved in transactions, assisting the business and legal teams during due diligence and transactional documentation negotiations. It is also up to the privacy professionals to onboard acquired companies after closing happens. In this session, in-house privacy counsels and private practice practitioners discussed how the M&A landscape has changed and shared their experiences with how privacy issues are approached on various stages of transactions.
