Virginia is considering new data privacy and security legislation, the Virginia Mercury reports. The General Assembly’s Joint Commission on Technology and Science is vetting a handful of bills, including legislation that would implement standards for safely retaining customer records and another proposed bill that would govern the collection, storage and destruction of biometric data. “We are just scratching the surface of these conversations,” said Del. Hala Ayala, D-Prince William County.
