U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will hold a meeting titled “Examining Legislative Proposals to Protect Consumer Data Privacy” Dec. 4, according to a news release. The committee will review legislative proposals designed to provide more “security, transparency, choice, and control over personal information both online and offline” for consumers. Meanwhile, MediaPost reports LexisNexis Risk Solutions, a company that provides aggregated data services, has joined other industry groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in calling for a federal privacy law that would preempt the California Consumer Privacy Act.
