Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI DSS) General Manager Bob Russo has announced he will retire at the end of the year, BankInfoSecurity reports. One expert said, “It was time for a change at the PCI Council … since the status quo has failed to stop the major breaches.” A Forbes column notes hackers are not just going for credit card numbers in breaches but additional data—including login details, contact information and other personal information that can be monetized via sale, identity theft or extortion.
