Following the passing of the Clarifying Lawful Overseas Use of Data Act, Microsoft is calling for an end to its long-standing legal battle with the U.S. Department of Justice, Reuters reports. Microsoft sent a filing to the U.S. Supreme Court stating it will not oppose the DOJ’s attempt to dismiss the case as the passing of the CLOUD Act has rendered the case irrelevant. “Microsoft agrees with the government that there is no longer a live case or controversy between the parties with respect to the question presented,” Microsoft’s lawyers wrote in the filing.
