Microsoft acquired Italian IoT company Solair on Monday for an undisclosed amount, TechCrunch reports. Solair brings its variety of Internet-of-Things products to the tech giant, such as a gateway for gathering data and its own enterprise platform. While it was not immediately announced how Microsoft will work with Solair, the company said it’s “excited about their technology and talent — and delighted to welcome them to the Microsoft team.” The two companies aren’t total strangers. Solair incorporates Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform with its services. “Solair shares our ambition for helping customers harness their untapped data and create new intelligence with IoT, and this acquisition supports our strategy to deliver the most complete IoT offering for enterprises,” said Sam George, Microsoft’s partner director for Azure IoT.
