Ireland's Data Protection Commission announced it launched a pair of inquiries into how Facebook processes children's data via Instagram. The DPC will investigate Facebook's legal basis for processing children's information and Instagram's profile and account settings. The agency also plans to look into whether Facebook adheres to the Data Protection by Design and Default standards found within the EU General Data Protection Regulation, "specifically in relation to Facebook’s responsibility to protect the data protection rights of children as vulnerable persons."
