Now that we're officially in the holiday shopping season, many parents must grapple with ways to keep their children on their best behavior leading up to Christmas. Of course, the "Santa's-always-watching-you" trope has long been part of the season's warning to children, but in recent years, new products have entered the market to bolster that effort. A few years back it was the ever-popular "Elf on the Shelf." Well, this year, "it seems Christmas surveillance has now gone to the next level," writes Ryan Chiavetta, CIPP/US. In this post for Privacy Perspectives, he reviews the "Elf Surveillance Dummy CCTV Camera," a mock device, complete with a flashing red light, designed to be installed in a child's room to give the illusion that the North Pole is constantly watching.
