A camera hidden in a YMCA locker has spurred questions about where and when such cameras can be used, CBC News reports. “YMCA members had not been informed there was a camera in the locker room or notified of the possibility they were being videotaped,” the reports states, noting Interim Privacy Commissioner Chantal Bernier is cautioning organizations that the need for surveillance must balance with privacy rights. “Police are investigating the placement of the camera in the locker room,” the report states, and YMCA Canada is calling the incident a "breach in security procedures." New Brunswick Privacy Commissioner Anne Bertrand released guidelines for video surveillance on Thursday.
