Google is moving forward with an “origin trial” of its third-party cookie replacement technology, the Federated Learning of Cohorts, to help websites learn how it works, The Verge reports. Google says the technology will provide “interest-based advertising on the web,” making users semi-anonymous as they will be associated with a large group. Testing will begin with a small percentage of users in countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada and the United States.
