Lawmakers are criticizing Facebook following the revelation it had data-sharing agreements with 60 device makers, The Washington Post reports. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said the agreements cast doubt upon recent testimony made by Facebook related to its data practices, while Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., has asked the social media company whether data-sharing agreements were made with Chinese telecom firms ZTE and Huawei. David Vladeck, a former director of the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection, said penalties could be levied against the company. Meanwhile, U.K. Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham said Facebook’s involvement with Cambridge Analytica was not an isolated incident, while the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled administrators of fan pages have a joint responsibility in processing user data with Facebook.
