The New Yorker reports on the work of Signal Founder and CEO Moxie Marlinspike. The growing end-to-end encrypted messaging platform, which was launched in 2014, started as an encryption tool but has grown into a cornerstone for private communications with a noted 400% increase in downloads just after the 2016 U.S. presidential election. While it already can't see its own users' messages, Signal also does not employ backdoors within its service.
