ZDNet reports the Brazilian Senate has approved a proposal that would guarantee fundamental rights and data protection across digital platforms within the country's Constitution. The proposed change, which now goes to the lower house of the country's National Congress, is another piece in Brazil's sweeping data privacy upgrades. "State and society should be entitled, as a general rule, to knowledge about each other, as long as there is a real need. Other than that, data privacy should be preserved as much as possible," Sen. Simone Tebet said, adding the government "should be responsible for legislation," the report states.
