India’s Supreme Court has extended the deadline to 31 March for the mandatory linking of Aadhaar numbers to government-sponsored programs, Business Times reports. The extension comes after India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for Indians to link their controversial Aadhaar ID to additional services. The previous deadline of 31 Dec. faced opposition given that the apex court is scheduled to begin hearings challenging the constitutionality of Aadhaar 17 Jan. 2018. Business Times offers a five-year historical timeline of Aadhaar as part of this article.
