About the Nominations

Self-nominations are welcome. However each company can submit their name for one award category only. We also encourage media, privacy experts, technology enthusiasts and other thought leaders in privacy, security and data protection to submit nominations.

There is no fee to enter. The program is underwritten by our generous award sponsor, HPE.

Award Criteria

There are two award categories:

  • Privacy operations innovation
  • Most innovative privacy technology

Important note: Companies may nominate themselves for one award category only—please don’t submit nominations for multiple award categories.

Privacy operations innovation category:

What we’re looking for: A privacy program that’s been implemented to safeguard the privacy of consumer, citizen, supplier and/or employee data. It can cross divisions within a business unit, cost center, agency or department. It could be a public campaign or an internal organizational plan, assessment, process, program or any combination of those.

The judging committee will be asked to rank each entry on a scale of 1–5 (1=weak, 5=strong) for a series of criteria, including, but not limited to:

  • Depth of adoption
  • Thought, leadership and integration
  • Revenue and profitability enhancement
  • Enhanced competitiveness
  • Proportion of customers impacted
  • Return on investment

Technological innovation category:

What we’re looking for: A privacy technology product or service that also safeguards the privacy of consumer, supplier and/or employee data. It can cross divisions within a cost center or business unit. It could be a public technology or an internal organizational rollout.

The judging committee will be asked to rank each entry on a scale of 1–5 (1=weak, 5=strong) for a series of criteria, including, but not limited to:

  • Level of innovation
  • Breadth of adoption
  • Revenue and profitability enhancement
  • Proportion of customers impacted

Selecting a category:

You should select a category based on what you are nominating not your type of company or industry. For example if you are a technology company but it is your new privacy program or initiative then you should select the privacy operations category. If you are a law firm or consultant and you would like to nominate a new tool or system you have implemented, then you should select the technology vendor.

If you are unsure which category please send us an email with a brief description and we will help advise you.

Judging

The awards are judged each year by a different panel of privacy experts representing a variety of industries, sectors and geographies. The judges are IAPP members and serve on a volunteer basis at our invitation.

To ensure complete objectivity in the process, we don’t allow judges to review or judge applications from their own organizations.

Schedule
