The Privacy & Cybersecurity Associate will join the Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practice Group in the New York Office. The Associate will work across industry groups supported by the Firm, with a heavy focus on the TMT and Sports practices, assisting with all aspects of a robust privacy and data security practice, including supporting clients in building and maturing comprehensive global privacy programs, day-to-day counseling on privacy compliance and risk mitigation, advising and assisting with the commercial and legal aspects of data in a wide variety of transactional matters, supporting clients facing data incidents and privacy and security regulatory enforcement, and partnering with the Firm’s litigation group to represent clients engaged in privacy and data security claims and litigation, including class actions.
This position will require physical presence in Proskauer’s offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation range for this position is $225,000-390,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

Detailed Position Description:
Proskauer is seeking a highly motivated attorney with 4-6 years of experience at a large law firm working exclusively in the area of privacy and data security.
- Experience counseling clients on evolving privacy and data security laws, regulations, technology platform policies, regulatory enforcement and litigation risk, with a core focus on US law but grounded in an understanding of international law necessary to provide global strategic advice to multinational organizations.
- Experience in handling the commercial and legal aspects of data, privacy and security in a range of transactional matters such as M&A, corporate partnerships, licensing agreements, product and technology development agreements, data sharing arrangements, vendor engagements, and content distribution agreements.
- Experience performing privacy and data security due diligence for M&A and financing deals and vendor engagements.
- Experience advising and supporting clients in data security incident response.
- Experience advising and supporting clients in responding to consumer complaints and regulatory inquiries or investigations relating to personal data practices.
- Experience advising clients on privacy class action risk mitigation and working with litigation teams to defend clients in privacy litigation.
