Web Conference: Code of Conduct Under GDPR: Alignment, Interoperability and Potentials

This web conference was a part of the IAPP European Data Protection Intensive Online 2021.

Original broadcast date: 25 June 2021

With the advent of the GDPR and the increase in data protection regulations around the world, many companies are in search of a way to bridge the various policy and legal challenges. Both codes of conduct and alternative privacy regimes - as provided under Articles 40 and 41 of the GDPR - offer a practical and cost-effective way to demonstrate compliance. Giving the recent approval of the EU Cloud CoC as the first transnational code of conduct under the GDPR, our distinguished panel will give an overview of the trajectory that led to this milestone. In this context, panelists will be analyzing the ways by which the Code’s design, negotiation, and approval processes have impacted the privacy and cloud communities while supporting the establishment of an innovation-friendly regulatory environment.
