On Dec. 24, 2020, days before the Brexit transition period came to an end, the U.K. and EU reached a comprehensive agreement known as the EU/U.K. Trade and Cooperation Agreement. While the focus of the agreement is on trade and the movement of goods between the U.K. and European Economic Area, the agreement has implications for the privacy practices of controllers processing U.K. and/or EEA personal data. Here, we provide an updated Brexit data protection checklist based on the information currently available.
