About the IAPP

Jennifer Cox is Legal Counsel and Manager, Research Contracts at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (“OHRI”). She advises OHRI on legal matters, including privacy, and leads the OHRI’s legal and contracts team that drafts, negotiates, and finalizes thousands of contracts every year. She is a nimble negotiator and negotiates with diverse parties including governments, Fortune 500 companies, and community associations. She is a leading expert in the use of Ontario-regulated personal health information in medical research and is currently leading the contract portion of a CIHR-funded initiative to streamline research contracts across Canada. In her spare time, she spends time outside, reads, and writes poetry and non-fiction.
