Frith Tweedie

Frith is a Principal at Simply Privacy in New Zealand, where she helps private and public sector clients develop good privacy and Responsible AI practices. She has over 20 years’ experience advising New Zealand, Australian and UK clients on privacy, technology and IP law issues and has a particular interest in the intersection between digital technologies, privacy and AI ethics.
Frith was previously the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Office at Auror, where she also developed and implemented their Responsible AI framework. Before that, she led the New Zealand and Australian Digital Law teams at EY Law. Frith drafted the Trustworthy AI in Aotearoa ethical principles while chairing the Law, Ethics & Society Working group of the AI Forum NZ and she recently developed an Algorithmic Impact Assessment process under the New Zealand government’s Algorithm Charter to help government agencies identify and mitigate algorithm-related risks and satisfy the Charter’s requirements.
Frith serves on the IAPP AI Governance Centre Advisory Board, the AU-NZ Advisory Board of the IAPP, the Executive Committee of the AI Forum NZ and the Data Ethics Advisory Group convened by the NZ Government Chief Data Steward.
