Kathryn Reid, CIPP/E, CIPP/US
Kathryn A. Reid is assistant vice president and senior counsel for Unum Group, a leading provider of employee benefits products in the U.S. and UK. Reid provides legal counsel regarding domestic and international privacy and data protection matters. She advises internal clients on privacy and data security issues including workplace privacy matters; business initiatives, including the development and implementation of new technologies, and services involving personal information and other sensitive data; and data security incidents. Reid also negotiates privacy-related issues in vendor contracts; conducts compliance and risk assessments; develops privacy policies and procedures; and creates and provides training and education on privacy law and data protection obligations.
Reid is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/US, a past member of the Education Advisory Board of the IAPP and a current member of the IAPP's Certification Foundation Advisory Board. She is the secretary of the IT, Privacy and e-Commerce Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel and a past co-chair of the Maine State Bar Association's Women's Law Section.
