Samantha Floreani
Samantha Floreani is a digital rights activist and writer based in Naarm (Melbourne). She is currently the Head of Policy at Digital Rights Watch, where she advocates for human rights in the digital age. Her areas of focus are campaigning for privacy law reform, improving online safety, and resistance against surveillance technologies. Sam has worked in privacy for many years across the public, private and civil society sectors; she was previously a Privacy and Technology Specialist at Salinger Privacy, a Senior Policy Analyst at the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner, and a board member of the Australian Privacy Foundation. Sam is also the former Program Director for Code Like a Girl, where she developed tech education pathways for women and non-binary people and advocated for improved gender equity and representation in the Australian tech industry. Sam regularly provides expert commentary to Australian and international media and her writing on technology, power and social norms has been widely published.
