Maria Badillo
Maria Badillo is a Policy Counsel at the Global Privacy team of the Future of Privacy Forum. She follows and analyzes privacy and data protection developments in key Latin American jurisdictions and collaborates with ongoing projects related to privacy-enhancing technologies, cross-border data transfers, regulation of sensitive data, and other key global privacy issues.
Maria has a law degree and Diploma in Privacy and Data Governance from the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) and a Master of Laws degree in Technology Law and Policy from Georgetown University Law Center. Her experience includes a legal externship at the Federal Trade Commission, where she assisted on competition and consumer protection matters in the digital economy, and a research assistantship at Georgetown Law on adequacy for cross-border data transfers. As a practicing lawyer in Mexico, Maria served as a legal advisor to Commissioners from the Economic Competition Commission and the Telecommunications Regulator at the federal level.
