Skanda is a Governance, Risk, and Compliance leader with expertise and experience in managing complex GRC remediation and transformation programs in both the finance and health industries. Skanda is specialised in optimising information value chains, enabling data driven decisioning and managing risks associated with data and analytics, privacy, protection, and technology. He is experienced in developing and implementing risk and governance-based strategies to promote the use of trusted data, particularly in the context of data-driven decisioning and broader digitalisation efforts.

 

As the Chief Privacy Officer at Healthscope, Skanda led an information privacy transformation program to address regulatory compliance concerns and support the digitalisation initiatives. The program set up a Group Privacy Office and a network of information privacy stewards at 42 hospitals, in a hub-and-spoke configuration to instill a privacy-by-design culture into the information processes. Skanda established an organisation-wide accountability and ownership structure, a comprehensive training strategy, and a privacy policy and frameworks to manage information risks across the data lifecycle. Additionally, he created an integrated governance structure to oversee privacy, cybersecurity, health information management, and technology collectively.

 

Prior to this, Skanda held various senior positions in the financial industry, specialising in data-driven risk management across several risk domains, including privacy, security, and digital risks. Skanda holds a master's degree in information technology engineering and applied finance and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
