Jane Horvath, CIPP/G, partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, and Jake Sullivan, former U.S. National Security Advisor and Kissinger Professor of the Practice of Statecraft and World Order, Harvard Kennedy School, joined moderator David Lashway on the Navigate 2025 stage for a keynote discussion on geopolitics, national security and government access to data and technology. They examined working across governments and civil society to set rules for tech and the respective responsibilities of governments and private enterprise. They spoke at length about artificial intelligence and how it transforms concepts of power and the basic face of warfare, sorting out risk factors to determine which areas of AI are regulated, which need new regulations, and how traditional ideals apply in an AI-infused world.
