Q1 2025 Annual Updates
AIGP
Each year, the IAPP updates its certification exams to reflect changes in the industry and retire older questions. On 3 February 2025, we will publish new AIGP exam forms.
These new AIGP exams forms will not be entirely new tests — they are updated versions of our existing AIGP certification exam forms. Think of forms as separate versions of a specific test. The exam may have a Form 1, Form 2, Form 3, etc. Typically, about 10-15% of each exam form is updated each year.
Some exam questions repeat across different forms, and some are unique to each. However, all forms cover the same body of knowledge content and conform to the blueprint requirements.
How are the new AIGP forms different from the exam forms currently in use?
Candidates testing on the new AIGP forms should prepare for questions on the topics listed below. You can access the new version of the body of knowledge, effective 3 February 2025, under “Prepare for the exam with these free resources.” Scores will be available 4-6 weeks after you take your exam.
The new AIGP forms all have 100 questions and a time limit of 3 hours that includes an optional 15 minute break.
Here is a summary of the updates to the AIGP body of knowledge that will take effect with the new forms:
- We condensed and clarified the number of domains from seven to four.
- We condensed overlapping performance indicators.
- We converted some competencies to performance indicators.
- View the slide show for more details on these changes.
- We added new Performance Indicators:
- Domain I.A Performance Indicator 3: “Identify the unique characteristics of AI that require a comprehensive approach to governance (e.g., complexity, opacity, autonomy, speed and scale, potential for harm or misuse, data dependency, and probabilistic versus deterministic outputs).”
- Domain I.B Performance Indicator 5: “Identify differences among AI developers, deployers, and users from a governance perspective, with respect to responsibilities, opportunities and needs.”
- Domain II.D Performance Indicator 4: “Understand the NIST ARIA program for methodologies, tools, metrics and measurements on AI safety.”
- Domain IV.A Performance Indicator 2: “Understand the differences in AI model types (e.g., classic vs. generative, proprietary vs. open source, small vs. large, and language vs. multi-modality capabilities).”
- Domain IV.B Performance Indicator 1: “Perform or review an impact assessment on the selected AI model.”
- Domain IV.B Performance Indicator 4: “Identify and understand issues that are unique to a company deploying its own proprietary AI model (e.g., increased obligations and higher potential liability).”
- What has been REMOVED:
- The history of AI.
- Content deemed too technical and not tied to governance.
- Laws and frameworks that are still emerging and have not yet been approved or adopted.
- Domain VII - Contemplating ongoing issues and concerns.
