Privacy Auditor (Privacy Practitioner), KirkpatrickPrice Inc., Nationwide (USA)

Do you like to protect your privacy, and want to help others protect their privacy too? Do you like partnering with companies who value protecting privacy data, and want to ensure they are protecting that data effectively?

KirkpatrickPrice is an information security and compliance auditing firm hired to assess how well our clients protect their data from those who would love to breach and exploit that data. We find data privacy gaps our clients were not aware of, educate them of the flaws, and empower them to fix them, so they can sleep well at night, knowing personal data are handled correctly. Privacy compliance is among the several compliance disciplines we specialize in.

Detailed Position Description:

Amidst substantial growth and with 1,200 clients around the world, we are growing our privacy and compliance team by adding an experienced privacy practitioner who will love working with clients to make sure they are protecting their data and are compliant with relevant standards. Our Privacy Auditors assess how our clients are processing personally identifiable information, whether they are compliant with privacy-related regulatory requirements and industry standards, and how clients can improve their privacy management programs. We audit the privacy practices of our clients and identify shortfalls that need attention, and then partner with them by guiding and teaching them how to strengthen their privacy compliance.

We love the privacy and compliance alphabet of GDPR, SOC 2 Privacy, CCPA/CPRA and other US state privacy laws, HIPAA, consumer financial protection laws, and more. If you love that alphabet too, read on.

Competitive Applicants:

This is a role for those with a heart to serve both clients who often are encountering the need for a privacy or compliance audit for the first time and clients who want to go from good to great. Competitive applicants will therefore demonstrate strong interpersonal skill and a desire and talent to educate, empower, and inspire clients to greater levels of assurance in addition to expertise in data privacy concepts.

They will possess five to ten years of privacy practitioner experience, as a data privacy analyst, privacy attorney, compliance analyst, data protection officer, privacy director, privacy officer, or similar specialty.

They will have earned and maintained a relevant certification related to privacy, like the CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or similar.

Competitive applicants will also desire to travel, typically two four-day trips to client sites per month, occasionally more.

And most importantly, competitive applicants will enjoy working with a talented and sometimes zany team of information security professionals across the country who love what they do and strive to serve.

Desired Applicant Characteristics:

  • Possess an extreme level of integrity. The top 1% of wealth holders in America rate integrity as the #1 factor that explains economic success.
  • Passionate about teaching applicable privacy compliance standards, such as GDPR, SOC 2 Privacy, CCPA, HIPAA, consumer financial protection laws, expanding state privacy laws, and more. We love this alphabet.
  • Display unparalleled professionalism at all times, in conduct and appearance. Iron your shirt!

  • Five to ten years of experience as a privacy practitioner, or as an information security expert dedicated specifically to data privacy or regulatory compliance.
  • Experience evaluating privacy notices, data protection policies, data processing agreements, privacy training, vendor privacy management, data subject access rights, and/or breach notification practices.
  • Skilled in understanding and implementing new and existing regulatory requirements.
  • Certifications in hand or nearing completion, like the CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or similar.
  • A JD degree with direct privacy and compliance experience, or a bachelor’s degree in IT, cybersecurity, or similar discipline will be advantageous.

  • Energetic about contributing to several projects at differing stages simultaneously. Cat herding experience preferred, but not required.
  • Efficient with technology. No technosaurs.
  • A collaborative spirit that works well with internal teams and external clients alike.
  • Willing to travel nationwide. “I’ve just GOT to get out of this house!”
  • Must detest a daily commute to an office. Virtual office experience is a must. Some days, it’s fun to just stay in those superhero pajamas.
