Legal Counsel, SafeGuard Privacy, Inc., Remote

You will be a key member of a growing legal team focusing primarily on creating new first-rate content for SafeGuard’s privacy compliance platform. The role will report to the Associate General Counsel.

What will you do?

  • Conduct legal research and monitor emerging privacy legislation, regulation, regulatory guidance, enforcement actions, and trends in privacy worldwide.
  • Draft memos, assessments, policy templates, helpful commentary, training materials, and content release notes as new laws and regulations are passed.
  • Assist in research, contract drafting and review, and other corporate legal matters as necessary.
  • Ensure existing assessments are up to date in this rapidly evolving field.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across our remote organization to further develop and improve the product creation process and the client experience.
  • Review, update and draft agreements, presentation, webinar and CLE materials.
  • Participate in client onboarding.
  • Continuously learn and grow through a wide variety of professional development opportunities.

What we’re looking for and what you need to succeed?

  • D. degree and active membership in at least one state bar.
  • Interest in and familiarity with privacy laws, including GDPR, LGPD, CCPA/CPRA, COPPA, VCDPA, CPA, UCPA, CTDPA, etc.
  • Excellent legislative interpretation skills.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to write clearly and concisely, in a manner easily understandable to both legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within your team and cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Marketing.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, curiosity, and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced remote work environment, prioritizing and managing multiple projects while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Proactive, resourceful self-starter who can work independently while exercising good judgment on when to seek guidance.
  • A sense of humor and the desire to join a nimble team working in a dynamic area of the law.
  • Privacy certification is a plus (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPP/M).
