Data Privacy and Legal Intern, UN Global Pulse/UNOPS, New York

Selected applicants engage in a range of privacy activities working closely with the Global Pulse legal and privacy policy lead, research teams and other UN agencies across the world. The intern will assist with: a) legal and policy research, analysis and provide contributions to the international policy processes; b) education and capacity building on the importance of privacy and data protection in development and humanitarian processes; c) examination of privacy laws and best practices; d) drafting policy papers; e) attending meetings and supporting brainstorming on the gaps and challenges that exist in privacy, ethics and big data uses for social good with the key UN agencies, regulators and private sector; f) assisting with drafting various legal instruments, including privacy policies, guidelines, data handling agreements with leading technology and data companies etc.
