IPC Youth Advisory Council

Council Member

Angela is a member of the Ontario IPC’s Youth Advisory Council and an undergraduate criminology student at Western University with a special interest in culture, feminism, media, and English language and literature. They channel these interests into their role at the IPC as a strong advocate for developing safeguards from digital crime, such as child pornography, fraud, and human trafficking. They also take part in a variety of related extracurricular activities and hold several leadership positions in their community to foster meaningful counter-oppressive change: For instance, as acting VP of Charity at a women’s empowerment club on-campus; and as a part of the Salvation Army’s regional Modern Slavery Human Trafficking committee off-campus. In the future, Angela hopes to conduct cultural-criminological research informed by an intersectional lens on the relationship between early education and criminal justice systems as part of their broader plan to pursue postgraduate studies and a career in education.
