Donna-Leigh Jackson, CIPM, CIPT
Donna-Leigh Jackson, CIPM, CIPT is Director of Calabash Solutions, and specialises in working with Australian health care providers to protect their patients’ personal information and enhance their privacy and security programs. In her current role, Donna-Leigh helps health professionals understand that the delivery of health care does not have to involve compromising people’s rights to privacy. This is particularly important in a patient-centred health care system.
For the past ten years, Donna-Leigh has immersed herself in the dynamic, rapidly evolving world of privacy and its relationship to security. In her (previous) role as Asia Pacific Compliance and Privacy Manager at a global heavyweight multinational in the intelligent travel applications space, Donna-Leigh’s passion for privacy was ignited in the fast-paced, technology-driven project environment that saw the successful development and delivery of the Opal Card in Sydney and the go Card in Brisbane.
In addition to privacy certifications, Donna-Leigh has formal qualifications in software engineering, psychology and cellular biology, and has more than twenty-five years’ experience as a software developer, programming lecturer, engineering training manager and compliance and privacy manager. She has also developed, implemented and managed privacy, quality and IT service management systems.
Donna-Leigh’s international work experience and formal qualifications have shaped how she sees privacy, fuelled her commitment to protecting privacy rights, and influenced her to speak out against unethical privacy practices. In the current era of big data, artificial intelligence, mass surveillance, and smart cities, protecting our right to privacy is crucial.
