Shunichi Morita, CIPP/E, CIPM
Currently, I work at the Business Risk Consulting Headquarter of Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ) as a senior consultant engaging in consultation and advice on GDPR compliance and practices.
Last summer, we took the new initiative to create a DPO association in Japan aiming to offer the forum of knowledge sharing and networking among Japanese privacy practitioners consisting of DPO, DPO candidates and others engaging in DPO related works or co-working with DPO, and I volunteered to be a secretariat. To date, 3 sessions are held with nearly 200 participants in total, and invited as speakers the prominent lawyers practicing in the field of international privacy protections.
Variety of the past job experience at a commercial bank, a Chicago based law firm, a London based merchant bank, a chemical company and IIJ includes around 6 year stay in the U.S. and the U.K., and recent 8 year long legal and compliance responsibilities which covered some works on information security for corporate trade secrets and privacy protections.
As to my professional qualifications and certifications, I recently acquired CIPP/E and CIMP, and admitted to the bar of the State of New York since 1992.
I obtained the Master of Laws degree from the Law School of the University of Chicago and the Bachelor of Laws degree from the Faculty of Law of Hokkaido University.
I live with my wife, Kazuko near Enoshima in the Shonan bay area and enjoy golfing and mixed choir.
