Alex is Data Protection & Privacy Counsel for Daily Mail and General Trust plc, which manages a global portfolio of business and brands and has revenues of almost £2 billion. It is the parent company of dmg media, which owns MailOnline and Metro.co.uk.
Alex led the group’s GDPR compliance programme. This included data mapping exercises, a business-wide review and refresh of marketing permissions, and the development of a customer marketing preference centre. He also conducted an audit into usage of profiling technologies for marketing purposes, and the development of a consent management platform for the use of ad tracking technologies. He assists the business with its ongoing GDPR compliance obligations and other day-to-day data protection related issues.
Alex has a BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection, and is a UK publisher representative on the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework Steering Group – the ad-tech industry solution to assist parties in the digital advertising chain with their GDPR and ePrivacy Regulation compliance.
