Mahisha Rupan, CIPP/E
Mahisha Rupan has been advising on data protection for more than 10 years and has a particular focus on the use of data in media and advertising. She currently leads the data protection legal team at Dentsu Aegis Network, one of the largest global advertising agencies, spanning over 140 countries. Prior to working at Dentsu Aegis Network, Mahisha was the lead data protection lawyer at Dunnhumby, the data science arm of British supermarket chain, Tesco. Dunnhumby developed the Tesco Clubcard, one of the most widely adopted loyalty card schemes in the UK with approximately 16 million members. Mahisha’s role involved ensuring that this data was commercialised in a fair, lawful and respectful manner.
Mahisha has also spent several years in private practice advising a range of different clients on data protection matters. During this time her views on data protection were quoted in several newspapers and publications, including BBC News, The Guardian, The Times and International Business Times.
