About the IAPP

Joëlle Jouret is a legal advisor in data protection for more than 10 years. She has been working more than 6 years within the Privacy Section, Department of the Human Rights at the Belgian Ministry of Justice. She has been working then in the private sector as Privacy Officer, until she got the opportunity to work for the Luxembourg presidency. There, she had the opportunity to support, as privacy expert, the Luxembourg presidency during the trilogues negotiations on EU GDPR 2016/679/EC. After this, she was legal advisor for the Belgian data protection authority for more than 2 years. She is currently legal advisor for the secretariat of the European Data Protection Board.



Joëlle Jouret est conseiller juridique spécialisée en protection des données depuis plus de 10 ans. Elle a travaillé plus de 6 ans au sein de la section "vie privée" du département des droits de l'homme du Ministère de la Justice Belge. Elle est ensuite devenue DPO d’une entreprise privée avant d’avoir l’opportunité de travailler pour la présidence luxembourgeoise. Là, elle a eu l'opportunité de participer, comme expert, à la négociation en trilogue de la version finale du Règlement 2016/679/CE (RGPD) avec la Présidence luxembourgeoise. Elle ensuite été conseiller juridique auprès de la Commission vie privée belge pendant plus de 2 ans. Elle est actuellement conseiller juridique pour le secrétariat du Comité européen de la protection des données.
