Ariel Brio, CIPP/C, CIPP/US
Ariel Brio is an entertainment technology privacy attorney. Mr. Brio is currently Director – Privacy, Business & Legal Affairs at Roku in San Jose, California and focuses on developing privacy programs, product counseling, and transactional privacy matters in digital entertainment. Mr. Brio joined Roku after a tenure as Senior Privacy & Data Counsel at Sony Interactive Entertainment in San Mateo, California, where he led programs and advised the business on privacy issues in video game, marketing, advertising, esports, biometrics, and AI across the PlayStation brand, console, VR, web, streaming, and mobile environments. Prior to joining Sony, Mr. Brio was a privacy attorney with a law firm in Washington, DC. Mr. Brio also helped Rosetta Stone manage its global privacy compliance while serving in the Office of General Counsel as an academic legal extern. In a previous career, Mr. Brio worked in technology consulting and in government service. As a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, Mr. Brio helped military, intelligence, and healthcare clients with data analytics, mobile/digital, cybersecurity, information technology, network analysis, R&D management, and strategy and planning initiatives. Before joining Booz Allen, Mr. Brio was an Intelligence Officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency and an analyst in the Office of Cyberinfrastructure of the National Science Foundation. Mr. Brio earned his bachelor and master’s degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and his law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law.
