Kate Colleary, LLB (hons), Dip Arb, Dip eComm, CIPP/E, CIPM
Director of Pembroke Privacy and practising lawyer, Kate gained an honours degree in law from Trinity College Dublin in 1995. She has been a qualified lawyer since 1999, working in large corporate law firms for almost two decades.
Kate is also the Irish Country Leader for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She regularly speaks at conferences in the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia and is a Data Guidance expert, providing content on their global platform.
Kate delivers IAPP’s CIPP/E & CIPM training globally. She also lectures on the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland and postgraduate courses in data protection law. She lectures lawyers on “the Role and Practice of the DPO”. She was one of only three Irish lawyers nominated for a Women in Law Award by the UK’s Lawyer Magazine.
Kate has featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, and has appeared on RTE television and radio, BBC Radio 4, Today FM and NewsTalk. She has most recently written a detailed paper on the data protection regime in Ireland, which was to be presented in person at the international congress of European judges in the Hague in May 2020 but was delayed due to Covid-19.
Kate has decades of experience delivering data protection services. She leads a team of expert consultants who provide outsourced DPO services and data protection consulting services to global clients, including big tech, government bodies, hospital groups and financial services organisations.
