About the IAPP

David Hale is the chief privacy officer and an associate general counsel for TD Ameritrade. Before TD Ameritrade, Hale was in private practice where he advised organizations in a wide number of industries on privacy, security and intellectual property issues. He is co-author of Snake Oil Security Claims: The Systematic Misrepresentation of Product Security in the E-Commerce Arena, published in the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review, and has taught courses in media law in both the law school and college levels. He received his JD from the George Washington University and his BA from Rice University.
