Lisa J. Sotto, Managing Partner of the New York office of Hunton & Williams LLP, heads the firm's top-ranked Global Privacy and Cybersecurity practice.She was voted the world's leading privacy advisor in Computerworld's three most recent annual surveys and was ranked as a "Star Individual," the highest honors, by Chambers USA for Privacy & Data Security. Sotto also was recognized as a leading lawyer in The Legal 500 United States. She currently serves as Chairperson for the Department of Homeland Security's Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee.

Sotto has extensive experience counseling clients on privacy, cybersecurity and information management issues. She advises on all U.S. federal and state privacy and data security laws, including security breach notification requirements. She also advises on global data protection laws (including those in the EU and Latin America), particularly with respect to cross-border transfers of personal data.

Sotto is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is the chair of the New York Privacy Officers' Forum and a member of SAI Global's Law and Ethics Advisory Board. She speaks frequently at conferences and seminars, testifies regularly before the U.S. Congress and other legislative and regulatory agencies, is the author of numerous treatises and articles, is sought after by media outlets and industry publications for her professional insights and appears regularly on national television and radio news programs. She is the editor and lead author of the Privacy and Data Security Law Deskbook, published by Aspen Publishers, Wolters Kluwer Law & Business.

Sotto received her JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was an editor of the Law Review. She received her BA from Cornell University, with Distinction in All Subjects. She is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia.
