Deputy Director, Head of European and International Affairs

Florence Raynal began her career in 2000 within the Law Firm Donahue& Partners LLP in New York, where she participated in the setting up of the privacy offer of services and worked for 3 years on clients’ international compliance projects. Back to France, she worked as a Senior Manager within Ernst & Young Law Firm for 4 years where she advised on privacy matters at both national and European levels. She also advised Ernst&Young internally as Data Protection Officer (“Correspondant Informatique et Libertés”) and coordinated the firm’s privacy compliance for the 26 countries of the Continental Western European Area. In 2008, she was appointed Head of the International and European Affairs Department of the CNIL. She advised former Presidents Alex Türk, and Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin as Chairman and Chairwoman of the CNIL and of the Article 29 Working Party and Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin as Chairwoman of the International Conference of Privacy Commissioners. She is leading a team of 10 people in charge of defining, coordinating and negotiating CNIL positions in European and International fora dealing with data protection and privacy (e.g. EDPB, Council of Europe, OECD, Global Privacy Assembly). A new mission coming from the GDPR is to actively contribute to the One-Stop-Shop and all cooperation mechanisms to solve European cross border cases. More generally, she advises the current President Marie-Laure Denis and the Institution on any International or European subjects, such as on global data flows and new regulatory initiatives. Part of her job is also to represent the CNIL abroad.
