Florence Raynal

Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés

Head of the Department of European and International Affairs

Florence Raynal began her career in 2000 within the Law Firm Donahue& Partners LLP in New York, where she participated in the setting up of the privacy offer of services and worked for 3 years on clients’ international compliance projects. Back to France, she worked as a Senior Manager within Ernst & Young Law Firm for 4 years where she advised on privacy matters at both national and European levels. She also advised Ernst&Young internally as Data Protection Officer (“Correspondant Informatique et Libertés”) and coordinated the firm’s privacy compliance for the 26 countries of the Continental Western European Area. In 2008, she was appointed Head of the International and European Affairs Department of the CNIL. She advised the former CNIL President Mr. Alex Türk and now the current President Mrs. Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin in their chairmanship of the Article 29 Working Party. Managing the Presidency of the WP29 mainly means organising with her team the plenary sessions, the work of the different expert groups, the roadmap of the WP29, the agenda and public relationships of the Chair. This also implies participating in all reforms on international and European regulations in all relevant fora (e.g. OECD, Council of Europe, EU Institutions, APEC, APPA, and international Conference of Privacy Commissioners). Florence promotes the positions of the WP29 by participating as speaker in conferences and by developing cooperation links with global counterparts and other stakeholders.
