Director, Privacy and Public Policy

Matthias is the Senior Manager for Privacy and Public Policy at the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Europe, which represents the interests of the digital advertising industry in the European Union. Matthias represents the industry before the EU institutions – the European Commission, European Parliament, and Council of the EU – as well as the Article 29 Working Group of EU data protection authorities on matters related to privacy and data protection. Next to his policy advocacy responsibilities, Matthias assists members with understanding and meeting privacy and data protection obligations and is involved in evolving the industry’s European self-regulatory program.
 
Before joining IAB Europe, Matthias worked for public affairs consultancy Weber Shandwick and for a Member of the European Parliament. Matthias holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
