About the IAPP

Ruth is the Privacy Director for Visier, a leader in data analytics, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. She works closely with product and development teams to implement privacy-by-design principles; manages privacy issues surrounding emerging technologies, anonymization and de-identification, consumer trust, and ethical uses of big data; and oversees Visier’s global privacy and data protection program.

Prior to joining Visier, Ruth was the Privacy Director for a multinational Fortune 500 financial services company from 2010 to 2018. She was responsible for addressing privacy compliance requirements across the Americas, Asia-Pacific and EMEA regions to reduce business risk and enable global growth and for leading complex privacy projects including due diligence and integration for M&A activities. She previously held several senior privacy roles supporting provincial, pan-Canadian, and First Nations eHealth initiatives and was honored with the COACH President’s Award for her leadership in privacy and security standards development for the implementation of electronic health and medical records. 

Ruth is a Certified Information Privacy Professional; recognized as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP); and designated a CIAPP-Master through the Privacy and Access Council of Canada. She was a member of the IAPP Education Advisory Board for two consecutive terms and currently serves as co-chair for the IAPP KnowledgeNet Vancouver Chapter.
