Kevin J. Murphy oversees the Global Information Security organization, dedicated to increasing awareness of the secure behaviors necessary for protecting Corning’s intellectual assets and leads the effort to create an effective framework for maintaining and updating compliance with data privacy laws in the European Union and other countries in which Corning operates.



Murphy joined Corning Incorporated in 1982 and quickly progressed, increasing his responsibilities in IT application roles within Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, and Supply Chain. In 1991, he joined Telecommunication Products Division as IT business manager, providing leadership to Fiber and Photonics through periods of significant growth and reduction.  During his tenure, he participated as a member of the division’s Malcolm Baldrige award-winning team. He continued driving process rigor, leading IT to ISO 9001 certification, and created the first global infrastructure team. Murphy significantly improved project performance through process improvements by defining and managing a global portfolio of IT investments. In 2008, he was appointed division vice president of IT Service Delivery, growing the talent of the organization, particularly in Asia, while effectively managing operational and project performance globally.



Murphy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, concentrating in operations management, and a Master of Business Administration majoring in the management of information systems, both from Syracuse University. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional by the International Association of Privacy Professionals and a Certified Information Security Manager by ISACA.
