Profile - Rick Shields

One of Canada's leading practitioners in the rapidly developing field of privacy law, Rick is co-author of The Law of Privacy in Canada (Thomson Carswell) and author or co-author of many articles and papers dealing with Canadian privacy law issues. A partner at nNovation LLP in Ottawa, Rick advises international and domestic clients, in the public, private and NGO sectors, respecting the legal and policy aspects of federal and provincial privacy laws in Canada. He has appeared as featured speaker or panelist at over 50 conferences dealing with privacy law issues. Rick is also Principal Consultant with CanadaPrivacy Services Inc. (www.canadaprivacy.ca) and has participated in the performance of over 125 Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and other privacy engagements in a consulting capacity since 2000.
